The opening of the resort for the ’21/’22 season included the installations of a new SNOW sign, a new art wall with images from Steamboat’s history, a new escalator, a new Cowboy Cauldron, and a new location for the Steamboat Gondola terminal.

The centerpiece of Steamboat Square, Skeeter’s Ice Rink is dedicated to the women of the Yampa Valley as we dedicate the new rink in honor of Gladys “Skeeter” Werner, the resort’s first ski school director.
On Opening Day, November 23, Buffalo Commons took the stage for the inaugural free concert on the new Steamboat Stage.
Christie Peak Express opened at its new base location between Steamboat Gondola and Wild Blue Gondola.
9:00am – 11:30am. Join us to celebrate the opening of the new Wild Blue Gondola and Greenhorn Ranch SnowSports School Learning Center. Be one of the first to experience the new ride. The celebration kicks off in the Wild Blue Gondola maze at the base of the resort. Immediately following the opening ceremony guests are welcome to ride the new gondola. Complimentary hot chocolate and treats will be available at the mid-station terminal. Resort Leaders will be present for tours and Q&A. Commemorative Wild Blue Gondola sticker patches will be available for those who ride on opening day while supplies last.

The celebration kicks off in the Wild Blue Gondola maze at the base of the resort at 9am. Immediately following the opening ceremony guests are welcome to ride the new gondola. Complimentary cookies and Commemorative giveaways will be available at the top terminal for those who ride on the morning of opening day while supplies last from 9am-11am. This is a momentous occasion for the resort and we are excited to celebrate with you.
Mahogany Ridge Express lift will open at 9:15 a.m. with a ribbon cutting and the first official ride going to our avalanche dogs and Patrollers who will be a big part of mitigating this new extreme area. Access to this area is available via four access gates along Middle Rib off the top of Pony Express lift. If you have questions, ask a member of Steamboat Patrol and make sure you know before you go. ⚠️ A reminder that this terrain is limited to advanced/expert skiers and riders and Fish Creek Canyon remains closed until conditions permit.
